Summary

After a shooting, whose story takes center stage? The victims? The shooter? Or everybody watching? A young student is forced to face the chilling reality that when truth becomes subject to competing agendas, healing becomes an afterthought.

Cast Attributes

THE STUDENT – An average high school student who is a representation of the school that experienced the shooting. They are not vindictive; they are not on a mission; they just need help.

REPORTER – A field reporter for ABC-QRS-VT 41 Channel News. Has no regard for privacy.
CAMERAMAN – A cameraman for ABC-QRS-VT 41 Channel News. A mindless minion.
ANCHOR – A news anchor for ABC-QRS-VT 41 Channel News. His job is to be attractive, sympathetic, and get viewers to stay through the ad break.
LEFTIST COMMENTER – A left-wing social media user who firmly believes that their posts will change the world for the better. Thinks they are morally superior and wants everyone to know it; also thinks that getting Democrats into office is the solution to any problem.
RIGHTIST COMMENTER – A right-wing social media user who firmly believes that their posts will change the world for the better. Thinks they are morally superior and wants everyone to know it; freedom and anti-wokeness are their most cherished virtues.
CONGREGANT – A well-meaning but oblivious attendee of a local evangelical Christian church. Is very sincere, but doesn’t have a firm grasp on theology, so is just a few YouTube videos away from having a complete crisis of faith. Enjoys being the center of attention.
PASTOR – The senior pastor of a local evangelical Christian church. Is a respected leader, but has not thought through many aspects of theology, so spits platitudes when faced with difficult questions.
ATHEIST COMMENTER – The kid who grew up Christian but broke free of the shackles of their oppressive upbringing with the help of the New Atheist movement. They want everyone to know about their enlightenment and seeks to convert as many as possible to atheism. Is a deeply unfulfilled person.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES – (Male) Must not represent any particular real-world president or political party. He’s just your average white, old, rich rapist.
FRIEND – The one who actually cares.

Note: Apart from THE STUDENT, the remaining characters can be split up between any number of actors. Ideally, five actors split the roles as such:

ACTOR 1 – REPORTER
ACTOR 2 – CAMERAMAN, RIGHTIST COMMENTER
ACTOR 3 – ANCHOR, PASTOR, ATHEIST COMMENTER, THE PRESIDENT
ACTOR 4 – CONGREGANT

THE FRIEND may be played by any of the five.
